Investment boost for Keighley and Worth Valley Railway thanks to new Swallows and Amazons film

THE organisation which helped secure production locations for a new children’s film partly shot in Keighley and Oakworth says local communities will benefit from investment generated by the filming.

The film adaptation of Arthur Ransome’s classic Swallows and Amazons novel was released in cinemas nationwide last month (Aug). It was shot over eight weeks last summer in locations including the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway’s Keighley and Oakworth stations.

Oakworth Station was used to make footage showing the children arriving in the “Lake District”, while Keighley Station was used to represent Portsmouth railway station for the film. Creative England’s production services team helped company Secret Harbour Films to secure suitable places where filming could be carried out.
