Boats
The Swallows and Amazons series features numerous boats of all shapes and sizes, some of which were based on ones that Arthur Ransome either owned or knew.
The various film and television adaptations have also used their own replicas or close approximations of those boats on screen.
A few of the original boats survive in private ownership and may be available to visitors or sailors at occasional public events, by request, or by membership of an organisation, most notably the original Nancy Blackett (Goblin in We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea and Secret Water) and Mavis (the inspiration for Amazon).
Swallow and Amazon from the 1974 film are currently under restoration at Hunter’s Yard in the Norfolk Broads, while Swallow and Amazon from the 2016 film are on display the Windermere Jetty Museum.
