Swallows and Amazons inspires Cumbria Wildlife Week at the park

There’s no denying the recently released Swallows and Amazons film captured the imagination of children who are now wilder about outdoor life in the Lakes.

Encouraging a love of nature, the Lake District Wildlife Park near Keswick, will be harnessing this childhood curiosity during half term. They’ve gathered some of the county’s leading wildlife and conservation organisations, hoping to inspire visitors to look more closely at the local wildlife landscape – all in a fun and interactive way that the Walker children would love too.

According to the National Trust Natural Childhood Report, children today are less connected to nature, causing a decrease in their physical and mental well-being. Being active and experiencing the natural world is something the Lake District Wildlife Park is keen to promote, encouraging children to learn the names of the local birds, flowers, trees and bugs that they spot during their adventures…
